Prof. Dr. Kiran Klaus Patel
Prof. Patel holds the LMU chair of European history at LMU and is Director of "Project House Europe". He held chairs at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and the European University Institute in Florence, Italy and is member of the Historical Commission at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
Abstract
The current Corona pandemic is a seismograph for changes in the EU over the past decades, particularly with regard to the horizon of expectations associated with European integration.
The presentation will demonstrate that the crisis does not just reveal the EU’s problems and challenges, but also its immense accretion of power in recent times. Moreover, it will discuss the EU’s future role in fighting pandemics and other challenges.
